
An Innisfil man is facing several charges following an industrial fire in Whitchurch-Stouffville earlier this month.
Investigators with the York Regional Police say emergency crews responded to reports of a fire at an industrial building near Warden Avenue and Aurora Road on Sunday, May 3rd, at about 3:18 p.m. Officers and firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the building.
Police say the property sustained an estimated $1 million in damage. No injuries were reported.
A man was arrested at the scene. Police have charged 59-year-old Filipe Da Silva of Innisfil with:
- Arson
- Mischief – Damage to Property Exceeding $5,000
- Utter Threats – Property
- Utter Threats – Person x2
Investigators believe the incident was isolated and say there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
