The Town of Innisfil is asking residents to help shape the future of development and land-use planning as it works to expand its Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) across the municipality.
Town officials say a draft town-wide CPPS by-law has now been prepared following the approval of a similar framework for Alcona and Innisfil’s shoreline area last year. The system regulates how land, buildings and structures can be used while supporting the vision outlined in the town’s Official Plan.
Residents will have two opportunities to provide feedback during upcoming public engagement sessions at Innisfil Town Hall. A drop-in open house is scheduled for June 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a public meeting on June 10th at 6:30 p.m., which will also be livestreamed online.
Mayor Lynn Dollin says the CPPS is designed to streamline the planning approval process by combining zoning amendments, minor variances and site plan approvals into one coordinated application system.
The proposed by-law would eventually replace the town’s current zoning by-law in most areas of Innisfil. Some properties are excluded from the proposal, including lands governed by the Friday Harbour zoning by-law, federally regulated lands such as the Cookstown airport and areas covered by Ministerial Zoning Orders, including The Orbit development.
Town staff say feedback gathered during the public sessions will help refine the draft before it returns to council for consideration.
