The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) celebrated students, staff and volunteers who demonstrate outstanding character during its annual Character Recognition Awards Evening last week.
Character education is a key part of the SCDSB’s approach to learning and workplace culture, with the board’s character attributes developed through consultation with students, parents, community leaders and local organizations.
This year, more than 105 individuals were selected for recognition from a total of 1,079 nominations submitted from every school and worksite across the board.
The celebration was held on Thursday, May 28th. It featured musical performances by a quintet from Bear Creek Secondary School and the glee club from Ferndale Woods Elementary School. Nominees and their families also had an opportunity to connect with students, staff and volunteers from across Simcoe County.
Those selected for recognition received a character recognition certificate and a copy of the book I Promise by LeBron James. All nominees will receive a character recognition certificate.
