A former Air Canada captain from Barrie is facing multiple criminal charges following an investigation that alleges he flew hundreds of commercial flights using fraudulent pilot credentials.
Investigators with the Fraud Bureau of the Peel Regional Police announced the arrest of 59-year-old Geoffrey Wall as part of Project Icarus, a four-month fraud and forgery investigation launched in January.
According to police, the investigation began after Transport Canada initiated a regulatory review into Wall’s licensing credentials and conduct as a commercial airline pilot.
Police allege Wall used fraudulent pilot licences throughout his career and misrepresented his qualifications to both Air Canada and Transport Canada. Investigators say evidence obtained through a residential search warrant and other judicial authorizations supports allegations that forged documents were used to maintain his position as a captain.
Wall retired from Air Canada in 2025 after a 27-year career. Investigators allege that between 2009 and 2025, he served as captain on more than 900 domestic and international flights and earned more than $2.9 million in salary during that period.
Police say records show Wall held a Commercial Pilot Licence but did not possess the Airline Transport Pilot Licence required to command commercial aircraft as a captain, including wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 777.
On June 1st, Wall was arrested and charged with:
- Fraud Over $5,000
- Uttering Forged Documents x2
- Possession of Counterfeit Mark x3
- Public Mischief
Investigators also noted that Wall held several leadership positions with the Air Canada Pilots Association during his career, including serving as Chair of its Master Executive Council.
