The Town of New Tecumseth is mourning the loss of Ontario Provincial Police Constable Tarun Bali, who died in the line of duty earlier this week.
Mayor Richard Norcross, members of Council and Town staff issued a statement expressing their sadness following the death of the 29-year-old officer, who served with the OPP’s Dufferin Detachment.
Const. Bali died on Tuesday, June 9th. He was assisting with an investigation in the Hearst area while temporarily deployed in northern Ontario when he was struck by a vehicle. An 18-year-old man has since been charged with first-degree murder.
In recognition of his service and sacrifice, flags at all Town of New Tecumseth facilities have been lowered.
Town officials extended their condolences to Const. Bali’s family, friends and colleagues, as well as members of the broader policing community.
