The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is reminding residents to take precautions as Environment Canada forecasts several days of hot and humid weather.
According to the forecast, daytime temperatures are expected to range between 30 and 34 C, with humidex values reaching up to 44 this week.
The Town is encouraging residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, and check in on older adults, young children and others who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat.
To help residents stay cool, two municipal Cooling Centres are available during regular operating hours:
- BWG Public Library, 425 Holland Street West
- BWG Leisure Centre, 471 West Park Avenue
The air-conditioned facilities provide residents with a place to cool down during periods of extreme heat.
The Town is also encouraging residents to monitor updates from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit for the latest heat warnings and information on staying safe during high temperatures.
