The Town of New Tecumseth is moving ahead with road resurfacing and sidewalk improvements in downtown Alliston.
Work is scheduled for the following roads:
- Victoria Street from Industrial Road to King Street North
- King Street from Victoria Street West to Young Street
- Young Street from King Street South to 208 Young Street
Sidewalk and concrete rehabilitation is expected to take place throughout the summer, with road resurfacing scheduled to begin after the Alliston Potato Festival in August.
The project includes:
- Replacement of damaged curbs, gutters and sidewalks
- Accessibility upgrades at selected intersections and pedestrian crossings
- Repairs to catch basins and maintenance hole covers
- Removal of existing asphalt and road resurfacing
- Installation of new pavement markings, crosswalks and parking stall lines
- Protection of trees and other community assets within the construction area
The Town says every effort will be made to minimize disruptions during construction.
Motorists can expect one lane of traffic to remain open during working hours, while two lanes will be available outside of construction hours whenever possible. Safe pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the project, and access to homes and businesses will continue whenever feasible.
Some temporary driveway access interruptions may be required. Property owners affected by those closures will receive advance notice. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
To reduce impacts on daytime traffic, paving operations will be carried out overnight.
The Town says project updates and construction notices will be shared throughout the project to keep residents, businesses and visitors informed. Follow along here.
