A 34-year-old Barrie man is facing multiple child exploitation charges following a two-month investigation.
Barrie Police say the investigation began after officers received a report involving a child under the age of 14 who was allegedly lured and exploited through the social media platform Snapchat.
On Thursday, July 16th, investigators attempted to execute a search warrant at the suspect’s residence. Police say the accused left the home in a vehicle before officers stopped him and placed him under arrest.
An electronic device belonging to the accused was seized and will undergo a full forensic examination.
The man has been charged with:
- Luring a child under 14
- Making sexually explicit material available to a child
- Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- Distribution of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
