A 29-year-old Shelburne man is facing 16 charges after Barrie Police allegedly found a loaded firearm, drugs, and a knife during a traffic stop over the weekend.
Police say officers responded to complaints about motorcycles causing a disturbance on Dunlop Street East on Sunday, July 26th before stopping a motorcycle on Mulcaster Street after learning the driver was under suspension.
During the arrest, officers searched the man and allegedly seized a loaded firearm, a quantity of drugs, and a dagger-style knife.
The accused faces a long list of charges:
- Driving while under suspension
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- Possession of CDSA substance, Schedule I
- Carless storage of a firearm
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession contrary to prohibition order
- Permit use of plate not authorized for vehicle
- Failure to comply with release order x 2
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of a firearm, knowing that the serial number on it has been altered, defaced, or removed
The motorcycle was impounded, and the accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
