Barrie Police say a handful of dog treats helped officers safely deal with two aggressive dogs that were loose on Essa Road.
Officers were called around 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 7th, after a 32-year-old man reported being bitten by one of the dogs in a parking lot. He suffered minor injuries and went to hospital for treatment.
While at the scene, they saw one of the dogs run across the street, narrowly avoiding traffic. Both dogs were eventually located in a driveway, where they displayed aggressive behaviour.
One officer had an unexpected tool on hand: dog treats. They used the treats to guide the animals into a secure area at the back of the property, where Animal Control Services was contacted.
Bylaw officers arrived and secured the dogs using catch poles. Police say they have been unable to locate the owner or owners of the dogs so far.
The investigation has now been taken over by Bylaw officers.
