OPP have charged an impaired driver who had been travelling in the wrong direction on Highway 400, on Friday, August 14 shortly before 3:30 am.
“Nottawasaga OPP officers responded to many reports of a vehicle travelling northbound in the southbound lanes on Highway 400 where other drivers had to take evasive action to avoid a head on collision. The vehicle proceeded to exit the highway at a service station in Innisfil,” according to police. “The vehicle was located by police, and the driver was placed under arrest.”
A 41-year-old male from Tottenham has been charged with:
• Operation while impaired – alcohol
• Failure or refusal to comply with demand
• Dangerous operation
The accused was released with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford to answer to the charges, had their vehicle impounded for seven days and drivers licence suspended for 90 days.
