The SIU, which reviews police conduct across the province, announced on Aug. 17 that an Ontario Provincial Police constable based out of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment is facing six charges following an investigation into sexual assault complaints.
The alleged crimes happened between August 2024 and October 2025, said the SIU.
The OPP notified the SIU on Feb. 6, 2026, following an allegation of sexual assault involving an officer and a woman, the provincial police watchdog said.
During that investigation, the SIU says it “uncovered” separate allegations involving two more women.
Const. Zahid Javed has been charged with three counts each of sexual assault and breach of trust.
He was arrested at SIU headquarters in Mississauga on Aug. 17 and later released on several conditions.
Javed is scheduled to appear before a Midland court on Sept. 10.
