South Simcoe Police are asking for your help after a victim had a gold chain stolen in Bradford West Gwillimbury.
The theft happened at around 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18th near Tyndall Drive and Chelsea Crescent. The victim was at a community mailbox when a black SUV stopped nearby and two men asked for directions to Walmart.
After the victim provided directions, the suspects reportedly showed the victim several pieces of jewellery. While the victim was distracted, one of the men reached through the passenger-side window and removed a gold chain from the victim’s neck. The suspects then fled at a high rate of speed.
The suspects are described as:
- Male, brown complexion, approximately 30 years old, wearing a beige T-shirt and dark pants
- Male, brown complexion, approximately 30 years old, wearing a light-coloured T-shirt and dark pants
Police are asking anyone with information, including relevant security or dashcam footage, to contact South Simcoe Police. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers, with tips potentially eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
Police are reminding residents to be cautious when approached unexpectedly by strangers, particularly when jewellery, valuables or distractions are involved.
