About 50 Canadian Armed Forces members will conduct a military training exercise in Creemore.
Soldiers and staff from the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers School will take part in the exercise as part of the Land Equipment Engineering Technologist Warrant Officer training course.
During the exercise, participants will walk Creemore streets using maps and compasses while familiarizing themselves with military operations in built-up areas. According to the Canadian Armed Forces, experience from recent overseas deployments has highlighted that contemporary conflicts are likely to take place in cities and towns rather than rural areas.
Members of the public are encouraged to interact with the soldiers as part of creating a realistic deployment environment.
The Canadian Armed Forces says the soldiers will not be armed, and no live, blank or pyrotechnic ammunition will be used during the exercise.
The training exercise is taking place in Creemore on Wednesday, September 9th.
