A 24-year-old Barrie man is facing charges following a four-month investigation by the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
The investigation began after the ICE Unit received a report from the National Centre of Missing and Exploited Children concerning the upload of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
In June, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the east end of Barrie, but the accused was not located. A second search warrant was obtained at the end of July for an address in the city’s west end, where police located the accused.
Officers also seized an electronic mobile device for forensic analysis. Police say the analysis resulted in the categorization of images and videos as child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
The 24-year-old man is charged with:
- Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
- Accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material
