The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library is celebrating Canadian Library Month by encouraging residents to explore the books, digital services, learning opportunities, and community programs available through a free library membership.
With access to resources that might otherwise require separate subscriptions or fees, a library card can help residents save money while discovering new interests and connecting with their community.
Members can borrow books, eBooks and audiobooks, access digital magazines and newspapers, enjoy streaming services, explore online courses and career development tools, and participate in programs for all ages.
The Library offers opportunities for families, lifelong learners, aspiring professionals and anyone looking for a new activity or their next favourite read.
The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library is also hosting several events at its Lakeshore Branch throughout October.
- A Reading and Q&A with Children’s Author Paul Coccia
- Award-winning author Paul Coccia will read from his picture book The Bear Fairy, which explores acceptance, authenticity and standing up to those who try to dull your sparkle.
- Coccia has also written young adult novels, including Recommended Reading, On the Line, Leon Levels Up and I Got You Babe. He is also this year’s guest judge for the Library’s annual Short Story Contest for youth in Grades 3 to 12.
- The event takes place Tuesday, October 20th, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Writer’s Fair
- Residents can meet local authors, browse books, discover new writers and support the community’s literary talent at the Library’s Writer’s Fair.
- Aspiring authors can also attend an 11 a.m. to noon workshop led by award-winning editor Brenda Chin, titled Everything You Need to Know Before You Start Writing the Next Great Canadian Novel.
- The fair takes place Saturday, October 24th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Both events are scheduled at the Lakeshore Branch.
The Innisfil ideaLAB & Library encourages both new and long-time residents to take advantage of its free membership and explore its available resources and programs.
